Madison Festivals, Inc., (MFI) a registered 501 c3, acquired the marathon in 2001 (it started in 1974) and has been bringing the community together for over three decades. Over the years, the organization has coordinated and executed some of the most popular festivals in Madison, Wisconsin.
MFI was founded in 1983 by a group of community members looking to bring the community together and celebrate Madison’s vibrant culture. Since then, the organization has grown and evolved, but its mission has remained the same: to create events that celebrate the diverse community of Madison and promote local businesses and organizations.
Aside from the marathon, one of the most popular events that Madison Festivals, Inc. organizes is the Taste of Madison. This event takes place every Labor Day weekend and brings together over 70 local restaurants and vendors to showcase their food and drink offerings. Over 250,000 people attend this event annually to enjoy FREE music, local art, and other entertainment options.
